In your opinion, what is the most difficult aspect of incorporating technology into a STEAM classroom?  Why is that particular aspect so difficult to overcome? The most difficult aspect of incorporating technology into a STEAM classroom is related to the type of environment  and type of resources teachers have access to at their school building. As mentioned in the reading, before starting to plan for STEAM instruction, it is helpful to engage in careful planning with technical support, instructional coaches  or library/media specialists." (Quigley & Herro, p.128) The type of support in each school might vary. For instance, in past district we had a STEAM teacher, an instructional coach, technical support at each school, various at district level and technology instructional coaches. What is one new piece of knowledge or a new tool that you have learned from this course so far? Through the discussion boards, I have gained some insight about what tools other educators in the course are currently using with their students. As a former elementary teacher prior to this school year, I was not as familiarized with many technology tools that could be used with older students. The discussion boards and Padlet has allowed me to be able to add many technology tools to my "tool box." One of the tools that was shared in the discussion board : Sharing Technology Resources, I was able to learn about "ClassKick." I learned that Classkick is an interactive platform that allows for teachers to post worksheets, quizzes, voice recordings, [and more] for students to work on in real time. As an ELL teacher I am constantly looking for opportunities to support my English Learners and encourage them to use their reading, writing, and speaking skills. Having a tool that...

Seven step proposal process reflection

   As I reflect on my proposal preparation, I recognize the opportunity I have had to be able to integrate  my content-based knowledge with the knowledge I am gaining about technology in this course. The integration of a technology tool came at the right time since I have been in the process of looking for tools that can enhance my teaching. The process of implementing my proposal has been helpful to the work I am currently doing. However one of the challenges I have faced is the timeline and expectation of when to complete the steps and plan. In order to implement my proposal collaboration has been essential. When presenting the proposal to my co-teacher and science colleagues, it was important to take into consideration the timeline and when the technology could be implemented which was the one of the challenges. "Learning Specialist/Instructional Designer reflection

  Reflection   As I reflect on my learning specialist/instructional designer, I have been able to integrate my content-based knowledge with the knowledge I am gaining about technology. At the beginning of this process I was able to use my content-based and technology knowledge to identify the needs of my school and classrooms. As a bilingual educator, often times I have a difficult time finding resources that are also offered in Spanish especially in the area of math and science. The topic I chose to work with for this proposal was coincidently in an area of need during this semester. Students must complete required labs but often the labs were not offered in Spanish or with Spanish support. I was excited to learn about the PHET interactive lab which offers interactive science lab in various languages including Spanish.
